Words about Some Paintings
Elijah River Dion was born and raised in the suburban areas of Southern New Hampshire. In his wayward youth, Elijah found himself waiting for the man and searching for working veins. Close to the edge, watching most fall over, Elijah eventually came to believe in a power greater than himself. In spite of this revelation, he cleaned up and chose to be an artist.
Elijah received a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Painting with Honors and two Minor Degrees in Art History and Drawing from the Maine College of Art in 2019. His revisionist history paintings expose sentiments of debasement, religiosity, and a world of reckless abandon; unreliable narration professing the myth of certainty.
My ‘narrative paintings’ are all original oil paintings. I use indirect and direct painting methods, drawing on source material from life, photograph, imagination, and automatic action. Please see elijah-river.com/contact for availability of anything under ‘narrative painting’
I am currently featuring work through Lauren Clark Fine Art in Great Barrington, MA. Visit at laurenclarkfineart.com/collections/elijah-river-dion
My paintings on paper serve as a ‘sketching’ practice, where ideas are tested. These began alla prima with 1 to 1 photo references - using either Instax or Polaroid brand auto-developing film. This practice continues to grow as I do.
These are only available for purchase through me at elijah-river.com/collect
